Tickling cough

What is tickly cough?

A tickly cough, also called dry tickly cough, dry cough or irritating cough, is very annoying. But it does have a protective function. It's your body's way of keeping the throat, windpipe, and lungs clean by removing irritants.

Cause of tickly cough

Creepy cough is usually caused by:

  • An inflammation, such as a cold
  • Cigarette smoke
  • An allergic reaction to a specific substance
  • Hay fever
  • Dry air, such as the air from an air conditioner
  • Clearing the throat often

Characteristics of tickly cough

You can recognize tickly cough by various complaints. Common complaints are:

  • A dry feeling in the throat
  • The feeling of a lump in the throat
  • Swallowing, coughing and coughing more often
  • When coughing, unlike a persistent cough, no mucus is released

What to do against tickly cough?

Coughing cough will eventually go away on its own. But because it is annoying, many people like to do something about the complaints themselves. A throat spray moistens the mucous membranes in the throat and the mucous membranes on the vocal cords. This ensures that the throat is softened and the itch is reduced.
