Nasal rinse salt for cleaning your nose

When you have a cold, it helps to rinse the nose with rinse salt. This ensures that all kinds of dirt is removed from your nose, such as stuck mucus and crusts, but this can also be dust or pollen.

During a nasal rinse, different parts of your nose are cleaned. The method is intended for cleaning the nose (such as the nasal passages) and the nasal cavities (the internal part where the nasal mucous membranes are also located).

What is nasal rinse salt?

This salt has been specially developed to clean the nose in a gentle and safe way. The saline sachets for nasal rinse are easy to use and ensure the correct dosage.

Nasal rinse salt is a saline solution that has been specially developed for cleaning the sensitive nasal mucosa. It is a combination of sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. That doesn't mean much to most people, but research has shown that this combination makes the rinse salt mild and effective.

Rinsing with nasal rinse salt is better than rinsing with:

• Only water. That is painful and leads to irritations.
• That is much too hard for the nasal mucosa (it contains iodine) and irritates it. Great on your food, but bad for your nose.

What types of nasal rinse salts are there?

At KNO-winkel you can choose from two different types of nasal rinse salt that are supplied in small salt bags.

• Nasal rinse salt This has been developed for people with different types of nasal complaints. For example:

• Nasal rinse salt with Xylitol This has been developed for people with (chronic) sinusitis. Xylitol helps in the breakdown of bacteria. This makes any antibiotics more effective and reduces the risk of infection.
