If an olfactory disorder is diagnosed, recent studies have shown that training the sense of smell can be a supportive measure in the recovery process.
People who use the Dos Medical Smell Training Set often do so on the advice of an ENT specialist. Smell training may be recommended as part of the treatment plan for a disturbed sense of smell. The goal of daily olfactory training is to restore the impaired sense of smell as effectively as possible.
The combination set uses the eight internationally recognised standard fragrances:
Set 1: Rose, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Clove
Set 2: Mint, Jasmine, Thyme and Mandarin
Once opened, the set has a shelf life of three months.
PLEASE NOTE! The oil in the Rose and Jasmine bottle contains a (fragrance-free) diluent, isopropyl palmitate. This diluent will solidify/crystallize if it gets too cold (e.g., if you store the bottle in the refrigerator or if the mail carrier delivers the scent training kit in cold weather). Once the oil returns to room temperature, it will liquefy again. This does not affect the fragrance quality.
Smell training is a way to train your brain to perceive smells (correctly) again.
The training itself is simple: twice a day, you smell different bottles containing different scents for 20 seconds each. This trains your brain to associate the scents with the appropriate plant, herb, or food.
Good to know:
Using this olfactory training set with the Smellow app makes training much more manageable. The app guides you through each training session, keeps track of your time, and helps you monitor your progress. You can also record what you smell and how it changes over time. Smellow is free and specifically designed to support olfactory training.
The app is available as a free download from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store .
